It has certainly been another bumpy ride this year but it seems like we may be ending it on the cusp of positive change for international travel to Australia as the Government begins to focus on post-pandemic recovery.
- Australia’s international border re-opened to fully vaccinated skilled migrants and international students from 15 December 2021 after being delayed from 1 December 2021 to allow time to investigate the new Omicron variant.
- This significant change allows fully-vaccinated eligible visa holders to enter Australia without a Travel Exemption including Skilled and Other Temporary Visa holders, Student and Graduate Visa holders, Family and Humanitarian Visa holders – find out which groups here.
- Following this month’s National Cabinet meetings, it appears the Government intends to move forward with re-opening international travel in a way that is proportionate to health advice. Here’s a summary.
- WA Premier, Mark McGowan has stated that at this stage it appears WA’s state and international borders will reopen from 5 February 2022. Find out what this means for international and interstate travellers to WA here.
It is still possible that there could be further delays, but after two years of international travel restrictions, the outlook is very encouraging for migrants, families and businesses facing skill shortages.
